The manufacturing facilities of the company are at Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Pune in Maharashtra and Bangalore in Karnataka. Three brothers Kasturbhai, Narottambhai and Chimanbhai, incorporated the company as Arvind Mills Ltd. in the year 1931. Developing a plant to manufacture electronic telephone exchanges (EPABX), Arvind Mills marked its footprints in the electronics market in 1985.

In the financial year 2001-02, the company introduced 2036 and 38 new Spindles and Stitching Machines respectively. In 2003, seven more Stitching machines were introduced. The shirts manufacturing capacity of the company was increased from 2.4 million pieces to 4.8 million pieces per year in the financial year 2003-04. A Jeans Pant manufacturing centre was established in Bangalore with the installed capacity of 4 million Pcs per annum in March 2005. In 2005-06, introducing a new Denim collection the company targeted the markets of USA, Europe, Japan & Korea.

VF Arvind Brands Pvt. Ltd. had brought the wholesale branded apparel business of Arvind Fashions Ltd. on August 2006. Signing a license agreement with The Philips-Van Heusen Corporation, the company started to design, distribute and to retail of IZOD brand apparels in India, in March 2008. Investing $60 million, 30 million meters of the denim manufacturing plant in Bangladesh was launched by the company in September 2010. The company introduced the leading fashion brands throughout the globe such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, Ed Hardy, Hanes, Nautica and Elle in India in 2011. On September 2012, Arvind Lifestyle Brands acquired British fashion retailers Debenhams and Next and American Lifestyle brand Nautica in India from Planet Retail.

In 2014, a global recognition was given to Arvind’s subsidiary Arvind Envisol that provides wastewater treatment solutions, as it introduced Polymeric Film Evaporation Technology (PFET). In October 2016, Arvind Ltd. diluted 10% stake in its brand business, which raised the company by Rs.740 crore with the enterprise value at Rs.8000 crore.

On November 2017, Arvind Limited, the largest textile business in India, declared that it would discontinue the Branded Clothes and Engineering businesses from the parent company. On March 2018, Adient (NYSE: ADNT), which is a pioneer in automotive seating throughout the globe, and Arvind Limited decided to enter into a joint venture to form Adient Arvind Automotive Fabrics, for the production and sale of automotive fabrics in India. The current revenue of the company is Rs.10, 821 crores with an Operating Profit of Rs.965 crore at a margin of 8.92%.
